Swiss E-Voting Workshop 2012
E-Voting - How Much Trust Do We Need?
The electronic vote from the perspective of science, politics, and administration
Thursday, September 6, 2012
Bern, Switzerland
Since 2011, 13 cantons participate on the e-voting pilots in Switzerland. In each trial more than 160'000 persons entitled to vote can use one of the pilots over the Internet. The project "vote électronique" does not encounter acceptance only. Science, politics, and administration jointly need to find solutions in order to reduce any kind of reservations. Only then sustainable trust can be achieved for the e-voting channel.
Goal
The goal of the workshop is to build bridges between science, politics, and administration. To achieve trust in e-voting systems, a high-priority, multi-disciplined approach is needed. The following questions will be addressed:
- Which are the requirements of critics addressed to Swiss e-voting pilots?
- How can trust be improved by technical means?
- Which are the judicial challenges in e-voting?
- Which political hurdles need to be cleared within the next years?
Target Audience
The workshop addresses experts, project leaders, and all who are interested in e-voting:
- Universities, ETHs and Universities of applied sciences
- Administration on the federal, cantonal, and communal level
